For those of you who have followed the blog since the start, you've probably noticed that the site has progressed in multiple stages. I'm always on the lookout as far as ways to improve the site, whether this means increasing ease of navigation, reader interaction, visual appeal, and/or content (of course). Within the upcoming months, I intend to make the following improvements:
- Updating photo qualities. In the very short term, I will be upgrading my camera from a point-and-shoot to a DSLR! As a fan of food photography and food styling, I'm very excited about this change. I'm well aware that this switch will take quite a bit of trial and error (please bear with me) before I catch on, but I have faith that it will be a positive visual change for the site.
- Increasing reader interaction. Although I have been a fan of the new 'dynamic view' layout over the past year, it has always lacked in ways to effectively communicate with readers. There has always been the option to comment on posts, and I have recently added a poll (on the right side of the page) in which I will update every week or two, but there should really be more; something along the lines of a forum or a message board. The long-term goal in fixing this problem is to get a facebook page started by the end of the year. This would help in several areas. First, it would allow readers to post their thoughts/comments/questions all on one page rather than on specific posts. And second, it would bring in more readers that may not currently be familiar with the "blog world".
As previously stated, this blog is always going to be a work in progress. It's a hobby of mine that lets me express my interests with family, friends, and readers. As has always been the standard, if you have further ideas for ways to improve the site, I'm always interested in hearing them.
